Flipping Burgers

In the late 1970s, Embry-Riddle students did not enjoy anything near the food service that they have today. When this strip appeared in April of 1978 featuring a cook swatting a roach with the same spatula that he used to flip burgers, it drew an immediate reaction from the food service manager who stormed into the Avion newspaper office demanding a retraction. When he was informed that the cartoonist was actually standing in the food line earlier in the week and had witnessed, first hand, the cook actually swatting a roach with his spatula and then pointing it at the next student in line and asking, “What’ll ya’ have?” before returning to flipping burgers with the same tool... the demand for a retraction of the strip was dropped.
